Katie McNight

  • My name is Katie McNight from Rathfriland N.I. and I'm 3 years old.
On Sunday December 20th. 2009 I was diagnosed with a cancer called,
Neuroblastoma. You may have never heard of this type of tumor, but
    let me explain a little.

Neuroblastoma is a tumor which mostly affects children and there is no
comparable tumor in an adult. Only about 80 to 90 children per year
are diagnosed with it in the UK. It arises from particular nerve cells
which run in a chain-like fashion up the back of the abdomen, chest
and into the skull.following the line of the spinal cord. However the
most common place for this tumor to grow is in the abdomen, which
is where mine is supposed to have started.

Mum & Dad brought me into the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children
on Sunday afternoon about 5pm. as they had realised that I had no
feeling in my legs. By 12 midnight, after being pocked, prodded,
scanned lots of times, then X ray results came back showing that I
had an aggressive tumor on my spine  behind my tummy. Then I had
an Emergency 4hour operation so that the tumor on my spine could be
removed, to give me the best chance of walking again.

This is a very brief outline of what happened to me in the space of
a few days, and how my family's life has been turned upside down.
So I would apprecaite your prayers at this time.

    Please Pray:

That the tumor will respond well to the chemo
  • I won't feel too sick during & after treatment
  • During treatment that I will be free of any infection
  • That the feelings will come back in my legs
  • My Mummy & Daddy as the travel; to and from the Hospital. Strength for the whole family circle - That Gods grace will be sufficient for them in these day's
  • For the Doctors & Nurses as they treat me.

May God Bless you all and thanks for reading a bit about me.
